My New Years Resolution

I don't usually make resolutions but it is a good time to evaluate your life and the past year and purpose to do things better or different. I am choosing to build on a habit I discovered in the last few months since we went to Atlanta in November. I am purposing this year to get up before the kids and have my devotion time. This is a big deal for me. I have tried in the past and heard many exhortations about rising early to seek the Lord.

When we were in Atlanta. Bob attended a mentoring workshop at OM's US headquarters. One of the activities they did was lots of personality quizzes and learning activities. He shared with me one about how we learn. The quiz was to differentiated between practical learning and theoretical learning styles. This was freedom to me to learn that there was a reason for me to gravitate towards practical teachings and blogs.

I have now set up my devotion time with a list of devotion blogs to read on my computer and get up usually around the time Bob leaves for worl but before the kids are up and enjoy the quiet of the house. I have notices that inspite of my getting up earlier, I am more relaxed and ready for the day, instead of playing catch up and being distracted by the kids while trying to let my mind wake up. Waking up at 5 am to methodically read 10 chapters of the Bible and pray for an hour doesn't work for me but waking at 8 am and reading practical teachings and praying throughout my day works for me, and I am refreshed. God creates us differently and we have to find what works for us. And I have!
