Christmas in July

In our initial training with Wycliffe, one thing that was covered was saying through good-byes to people, places, possessions, foods and pets.  With beginning a somewhat transient lifestyle there will be lots of goodbyes and we will get good at it.  It got us thinking about what we wanted to say good bye to.

Growing up my family went to the same vacation spot every summer, Door County, WI.  The last time I had been there was 2006, before Bob and I were engaged.  I had never had the opportunity to share this special place with him or the kids.

Last fall when Christmas gifts were being discussed and we were beginning to purge at the same time, I suggested to my family that instead of big gifts that we instead go to Door County as a big family multi-generational family.  Our family of 4 doubled with the addition of 1 husband, 2 grandkids, and a girlfriend.  So plans were made and we have just returned from our enjoying our christmas present.

Lydia enjoyed the beach, riding the bike trailer, and the extra time with family.  Caleb love exploring everywhere, including the surf at the beach.  Bob got some good reading in while lounging by the water.   I enjoyed sneaking away from the kids to do a kayak tour with Bob and doing our annual bike ride through Peninsula State Park.
